The City is not a business's sole resource when looking to locate or expand in our community. Upper Arlington works with many partners in our attempt to provide area businesses opportunities for success. Below is a sampling of some of our partners.
INCENTIVESOhio Department of DevelopmentThe Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) is a criticial partner to assist businesses that have a more interstate, national or international market presense. ODOD administered grant programs are geared to developers creating sites for future business growth and businesses making investments in real property and generating increased payrolls within the state. Our Economic Development Director is prepared to assist you with any of these programs as he works continually with regional ODOD representatives.

- Ohio Job Creation Tax Credit - Provides tax credits for Commercial Activity Tax (CAT), corporate franchise or state income tax, or insurance company annual franchise tax for businesses that expand or locate in Ohio for companies.
- Ohio Research and Development Investment Tax Credit - Provides a nonrefundable tax credit against the corporate franchise tax and is designed to encourage Ohio's corporations to invest in increased research and development activities.
- Training Tax Credit - Provides tax credits for employers that train existing employees who are at risk of losing their jobs primarily due to skill deficiencies.
- Technology Investment Tax Credit - Offers a variety of benefits to Ohio taxpayers who invest in small, research and development and technology-oriented forms
Franklin County Economic DevelopmentFranklin County has been a partner on many City efforts, enabling us to provide many of the incentives and programs available to businesses in the community.
Learn MoreLENDINGCommunity Capital Development Corporation (CCDC) CCDC is the oldest and most well-established non-profit lender in Central Ohio. They provide SBA backed financing and partner lending with many of the banks in the region.
Learn MoreEconomic and Community Development Institute (ECDI) ECDI is a non-profit development corporation that offers microenterprise lending to existing and start-up companies throughout Central Ohio. Loans can be up to $35,000 and be used for equipment, fixtures, inventory or working capital. Lending priorities have a focus on start-up, minority and women-owned businesses.
Learn MoreGrowNow Program - Ohio Secretary of State's OfficeGrowNow is a lending assistance program designed to reduce lending costs to businesses expanding employment within Ohio. Loan assistance is primarily for capital improvements and furniture and fixturing for the business. Potential interest rate reductions of 3% may be available with this program.
Columbus - Franklin County Finance AuthorityThe Finance Authority has been established to provide bond financing and similar financing tools to assist in large construction and capital equipment projects.
