City of Upper Arlington, Ohio

Prior to assuming his role as Assistant City Manager, Joe served as the City's Parks & Recreation Director for approximately Three years.  During his tenure as director, the department successfully undertook a community visioning process for its outdoor pools, resulting in the complete renovation of one facility in 2004/2005, now known as the Reed Road Water Park.

Before joining the City of Upper Arlington, Joe served as Minister of Youth for 16 years at the Upper Arlington Lutheran Church.

Additional volunteer roles within the Upper Arlington Community include: Arlington Community School Board of which he is the current chair, The Team Delta Max taskforce - an intergenerational arm of a student lead movement encouraging students make positive life choices regarding drugs and alcohol use, Columbus Young Life, Upper Arlington Art of Hosting, the Upper Arlington Special Olympics Parent Board, softball coach for Upper Arlington Special Olympics and advisor for Upper Arlington Leadership and Youth Leadership programs.

Joe is a 2003 graduate of the Upper Arlington Leadership program. He also has volunteered in a variety of capacities with Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, and is currently an active member of the Upper Arlington Rotary Club.  He is a graduate of the Upper Arlington Schools, and has a degree in Recreation Education from The Ohio State University.
